After the announcement last December, the electric E-3008 is now available in dealerships;from access to incentives to real autonomy, up to the strong attention to comfort, we tell you everything in our test.

We told you about it last December, when Peugeot showed the brand's latest electric for the first time in Italy, E-3008.We announced the start of sales, already started in February, of the type (this is a long family SUV 4 meters and 54 with an almost sporty design, at least in the rear), the electric range (up to 700 kilometers in the top versions of the range) and the charging time (30 minutes from 20 to 80 percent in the best conditions and up to 160 kWh, which we will see shortly).Prices were missing:the 210 horsepower version in the Allure trim starts from 41,980 euros and falls within the car incentives 2024, from which the top version of the GT range is excluded with 49,720 euros;among the possible alternatives to the Peugeot E-3008 in terms of price and features, other similar electric vehicles could be Tesla Model Y, Nissan Ariya or Hyundai Ioniq 5.

We also confirm the identikit of this electric car, with two trim levels, three electric motors, three powers (for now from 210 horsepower, then the 230 and 320 horsepower versions will be added), with versions a 2 or 4 wheel drive.Here, now, after our test drive, we are able to add some more evaluations, on driving pleasure, performance, comfort (perhaps the emerging aspect), on efficiency and on a series of other aspects that we will see shortly.

For now the version available is the entry version (protagonist of our test), i.e. with a 500cc engine 157 kW or 210 horsepower of power, one 73 kWh battery (guaranteed for 8 years or 160 thousand km at 70 percent of its charging capacity) and a declared electric range of approximately 500 kilometres, a fact which, as always, can vary greatly in actual use.Useful bidirectional charging Vehicle to Load which allows you to recharge other devices (3 kW power output), such as an electric scooter.

E-3008, sporty to look at, family-friendly to use

So let's pick up where we left off, but this time we get on board the E-3008, because this is where this electric surprises the most.An electric car for families, as we anticipated, a so-called crossover, but with a sporty touch.Starting from the small and handy steering wheel (heatable, with the gear lever nearby and the paddle to adjust the 3 levels of regeneration of energy) to move on from the big screen, almost a domestic television from 21 inches, which is effectively the link between the front passengers and the road.“Panoramic i-Cockpit” they call it a bit for effect in Peugeot, but they are right, it immediately gives a technological aspect to the passenger compartment, which is in turn spacious, welcoming in the materials (the contrast between the natural texture of the fabrics and the aluminum on the dashboard and on the door panels), customizable lighting with 8 colors of your choice.

What is the large curved display for (and how does it work).

Before telling you what the electric E-3008 offers on the road, let's stay still for a moment, because a minimum amount of getting used to is needed to become familiar with the great curved display and with commands.Starting from the central touch screen, the one dedicated both to the driver (especially to the driver, given the inclination of the display oriented towards the driver) and to those sitting next to it. Follow us: to the left of the screen you see the instrument panel, above the steering wheel, which clearly provides all the main information, from speed to driving assistance systems;on the right and moving towards the center there is the "touch" part, the one sensitive to touch from which to regulate the air conditioning (which on some versions works with a heat pump, which is more efficient), the navigator, the radio and the part with the numerous apps.

Everything clear and intuitive.Or almost.What requires a minimum of practice are the buttons;the reason is that there are 10 of them and they can be customized to give you quick access to as many functions, the most used ones, the ones you always want to keep on hand to understand:call your wife, ask the navigator to take you home or to the office, tune in to your favorite Dab channel (LifeGate radio, of course…), or adjust the climate with your preferred temperature.Well, once the programming is done everything becomes very easy.

Air quality under control and seats that massage

At the beginning we talked about comfort.That's right, the E-3008, at least in this 210 horsepower version, impresses more with its comfort than its pure performance.And the reasons are many.From the obvious silence of the electric motor (to which is also added a good soundproofing from external noises), to internal spaces, to the brightness of the passenger compartment, up to the containment of front seats, which on some versions can also be ventilated, massaging and can adapt to your body size thanks to special inflatable air chambers.In short, you're comfortable, even peaceful (and driving serenity is an aspect that is included in the rating Mobility Revolution plays a significant role in defining the experience of driving a car).

The aspect related to the communication is also good air quality, with a system that checks the presence of pollutants inside and outside the passenger compartment and, on some versions, acts on air treatment, filtering polluting gases and particulates.Space?Adequate, with numerous storage compartments, useful wireless phone charging, a refrigerated space under the central armrest, glasses holder, cup holder.In short, the E-3008 is also a practical electric vehicle, with good space for luggage and a practical tailgate, whose only flaw is the very sloping rear window which can reduce the burden of bulky items.

Because the E-3008 is an electric that calms

And now we come to what the Peugeot E-3008 offers in use.Comfort is the first sensation.Even if the small and sporty steering wheel makes you think of a performance car, the feeling that prevails is that of a relaxing car.Whether you choose the "normal" mode to be used on almost all occasions, "eco", more suitable in the city where the drop in power is not felt and driving is still satisfying, or whether you switch to "sport" for a more dynamic drive, the behavior of this not exactly light (but balanced) SUV is overall pleasant.

Changing the various modes, the sensitivity of the steering, accelerator and gearbox speed also vary, consistently accommodating the chosen driving style.In short, as we said at the beginning, this is an SUV or crossover, as you prefer, designed for the family, with a dynamic appearance but practical behaviour, even in the city where despite its less than ideal dimensions, it remains easy to drive and park (useful rear camera which self-cleans for always clear visibility during manoeuvres).If you are anxious about maneuvering, you can have 4 optional cameras that provide a 360-degree view around the car.

As for the electric range, one of the aspects that still raises some doubts when dealing with the purchase of an electric car, in the case of the E-3008, of the 525 kilometers declared you have to imagine having around 400 realistic ones, with a tool that greatly reduces charging anxiety: when you set a destination on the navigator, the system first offers you the ideal route (considering distance, current battery charge level and what you want to have upon arrival, speed, traffic, even any hills to overcome), then shows you times , steps to take up to the charging options available in your destination.

Sees pedestrians and cyclists (even in the dark of night)
