German research confirms that electric cars are increasingly appreciated, also with respect to autonomy. The sales data also goes in this direction.

Who uses an electric car he is limited in travel, due to poor autonomy and dependence on charging infrastructure. One of them collapses beliefs most common among detractors of battery-powered cars:a German study, in fact, has shown that the average use and mileage of the cars is superior when the fuel system is battery-powered versus when it is gasoline-powered.

Hybrid and diesel cars lead in mileage

As shown by the research of the insurance portal Check24, in 2022 those who own an electric car traveled an average of 12,215 kilometers in Germany:about the 20 percent more compared to those who traveled in a petrol-powered vehicle, whose average annual mileage stopped at 10,088 kilometres.Cars remain in first place hybrids and diesels which covered greater distances, equal to 12,627 kilometers and 12,626 kilometers respectively.

If diesel remains at the top of motorists' preferences due to its cheapness and widespread diffusion, the autonomy and therefore the use of electric cars is constantly increasing.Even in the face of one general reduction of the use of cars, linked to smart working, the boom in micromobility and the increase in petrol and diesel prices.

Sales, in Europe the electric car overtakes the diesel

In this context, the ever-increasing appreciation for electric cars is also supported by the market data.According to the latest data of Acea (the association of European manufacturers) relating to the month of June, there were over 158,000 registrations of cars "on tap", with a leap of 66.2 percent compared to the same month last year:market share is climb in 12 months from 10.7 percent to 15.1 percent.

In terms of sales, the month of June 2023 will be remembered for a historic overtaking, that of electric cars over diesel ones;Petrol vehicles remain firmly in first place (36.3 percent of the market share), followed by hybrid vehicles with 24.3 percent. Italy, however, remains behind the vast majority of European countries, even if the market share of less polluting cars continues to slowly rise:we currently stand at 9.8 percent, with hybrids at 5.4 percent and pure electrics at 4.4 percent.
